I’ve been a film photographer since starting my business in 1999. And one to the things I love about working with film is the workflow!
When using film, I do most of the “editing” work in camera.
I make sure my light is good and my settings are right. I choose a film stock whose color profile and grain texture I like. Then I shoot, and send the film off to the lab where they develop and scan my negatives. The images are returned to me as jpegs, and all I have to do is cull, straighten (because I can not shoot straight 😂) and make a few small edits.
When I shoot on film, editing an entire newborn session takes about 15 minutes. And that has never been possible when working with digital files.
