So you want to learn about off-camera flash but you’re not sure which is the best class for you? This week on the podcast I’ll break down exactly which class is best for you when it comes to learning how to create beautiful light with strobes and flash.
I first starting teaching lighting in 2014 when I realized there wasn’t a resource specifically for natural light photographers who wanted to find a way to create that beautiful, soft light in a studio setting.
Every photographer needs to know how to create their own light with strobes and flash. But the truth is most family photographers don’t have studios. They are usually going into client’s homes, hospital rooms, and schools. I wanted to design something specifically for them which is why I spent a year creating my new class, Lighting on Location: Off-Camera Flash for In-Home Photographers.
That class has been so popular and I have loved seeing these results! But I’m getting a lot of questions about the difference between The Missing Link, Lighting on Location, and Sandra Coan Certification. So let’s break it down.
The Missing Link – for studio photographers
- Great beginner course for anybody who wants to learn how to create natural looking light with strobes and flash
- Specifically for photographers who work out of studios (including home studios)
- For photographers who want that one light approach and have room to set up bigger modifiers
- Example videos in my own studio
- Takes about a week to complete
Lighting on Location – for in-home photographers
- Specifically for photographers who work on location – client’s homes, hospitals, schools, etc
- Explore specific problems that in-home photographers face
- Knowing how to walk into a room, assess the situation, set up your lights and get started!
- Alternative for smaller spaces including compact equipment and bouncing your light
- Behind the scenes videos in real client’s house
Both classes are easy to understand technical classes that will provide you with a strong foundation for how to use strobes and flash to create beautiful, natural light.
