Why Being a Certified Newborn Photographer Matters

Heather Lewin is a Salt Lake City newborn photograph who recently graduated the Sandra Coan Certification program and is now, officially, a certified newborn photographer!

Like many of the photographers in my program, Heather work hard over the course of twelve months to earn her certification, and she wanted to share her insight about why being certified is so important to your clients!

Here is what she has to say:

I have been working under Sandra Coan for an entire year now, and I can assure you that this certification is not handed out lightly. I have worked hard to get to this point and am SO excited!

Perhaps you’re thinking, “Yeah that’s great and all, but what does that actually mean?” So, allow me to explain.

Being a certified photographer means that my clients can trust that what they see in my portfolio is what they are going to get.

Ever heard the horror stories about someone hiring a photographer based on the their website or Instagram, but then getting back images that are totally different than what was advertised?

It happens way too often in this industry, but my clients can trust that it won’t happen with me! I have been trained and testing. My work is consistent. And because I’m certified in The Sandra Coan Method™ for lighting, posing and processing, I know that I can walk into any situation and produce beautiful images that are the same quality as I share online.

As a Sandra Coan Certified photographer my clients can trust that their baby’s safety is my utmost priority

Sandra believes in, and teaches baby-led newborn posing. Which means I’ve been trained in this safe and timeless approach to newborn portraiture.

My clients can trust that I will never put your baby in a potentially unsafe pose. I know that babies are beautiful just as they are and I have been taught how to highlight that. I have mastered the art of natural posing to proud to be able to provide my clients with beautiful photos that will never go out of style.

Being certified also means that I have systems and processes in place that allow my clients to relax and have fun at their session

Having systems in place for my lighting, my posing and my post session workflow means that my sessions are relaxing, fun and efficient, and my turn around times are speedy!

My clients can enjoy the moment without having to worry about excessive time requirements or having a list of things to remember before or after their photoshoot.
